The Holy Ghost Tells Us Truth And Can Lead Us To Know Future Events

Family History

“The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead and a personage of Spirit, not possessing a body of flesh and bone. By the power of the Holy Ghost a person receives a testimony of Jesus Christ and of His work and the work of His servants upon the earth. The gift can come only after proper and authorized baptism and is conferred by the laying on of hands.

When a person speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost that same power carries a conviction of the truth unto the heart of the hearer. The Holy Ghost knows all things and can lead one to know of future events.” Bible Dictionary

My grandparents, Alma and Clara Nielson, were great examples to me of what it means to listen to and have the Holy Ghost in your life. Alma served a mission and read the Book of Mormon every day. They had ten kids and listened to the Holy Ghost all their life.

The Holy Ghost has led me to engage in Family History work and part of that is posting pictures and journal entries of my ancestors in Family Search Memories. If I want to go and look up a memory of my family, I can easily click on Memories and all my family’s pictures and many journal entries and activities pop up instantly.

I save these things on a thumbdrive, but it is so nice to have them in a place that I can easily access and that my family can have access to and go to with the click of a button. When I do this, I am reminded of the power of the Holy Ghost and how the Holy Ghost prompts us to do these things and for good reason.

I feel my grandparents speak to me, even from the other side of the veil, and I know this is possible because of the Holy Ghost and because I do their work.

When we participate in family history work and take family names to the temple, we can have the Holy Ghost testify to us if they accepted the work we did for them and through the Holy Ghost we will know what we hear or see is true.

“And by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.” Moroni 10:5

Below are pictures of Jineen Rauch's grandparents when they were married and in their older years. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple, and Jineen has records of her grandfather serving a mission. The other picture is of their children.
