Family History
A covenant is “a contract made between God and man. God fixes the terms, which man accepts. The gospel is so arranged that principles and ordinances are received by covenant placing the recipient under strong obligation and responsibility to honor the commitment.” Bible Dictionary
Family History is all about keeping covenants. We obtain the opportunity to make and keep covenants and we give other’s opportunities to make and keep covenants by searching them out on Family Search and doing their work in the temple, after they are dead.
My dad is not a member of the church, but my mom has the promise that she will be sealed to him, and we will be a family unit sealed together forever. I know that because my mom’s faithfulness in keeping her covenants, God will help this promise come to pass, whether in this life or the next, my dad’s heart will be turned to Christ and this sealing will take place.
