Family History
We gain a stronger testimony and increase our faith as we read the scriptures, more especially the Book of Mormon. As we read the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, we develop a desire for and gain the spirit of family history work that encourages us to search out our ancestors. When we emerge ourselves in the reading of the Book of Mormon, we begin to use our time wisely and understand the importance of binding our families together for eternity.
“And none were received unto baptism save they took upon them the name of Christ, having a determination to serve him to the end. And after they had been received unto baptism, and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken, that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith.” Moroni 6:3-4
Jesus Christ is the author and finisher of our faith, and we can get to know Him, understand Him, and develop a strong faith and increased testimony in Him and His works as we immerse ourselves in the scriptures, and as we do, our love for our ancestors will increase, and we will be drawn to do their work for them and in turn they will be drawn to you and have their faith and testimonies strengthened.
