We can serve on both sides of the veil. We lift burdens for those in the spirit world when we take their names to the temple and do their ordinances. This is a service and it is like we are actually serving God. He uses us to lift burdens on the earth and in heaven. In this process, we gladden hearts and give people opportunity to choose eternal life and salvation.

When we share the gospel on earth through service and those people join the church because of our example, they too can help their family members come to the temple who have passed before them.

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Matthew 25:40
