Family History
When I go to the temple for my family and ancestors, and I am done with an ordinance, I often go to the celestial room to ponder, pray, and read scriptures.
Being in the temple, especially after participating in ordinances for the dead, bring strong impressions to my mind and heart, and as I ponder on the impressions I am receiving, I often open the scriptures and search them and find that the spirit pours down revelation to me in powerful ways than if I wasn’t in the temple. I feel my family on the other side speak to me through the scriptures and guide me on a more perfect path of understanding.
“Revelations are pouring forth as in days of old.” Bishop Keith B. McMullin, April 2001 General Conference.
Engaging in family history work, and going to the temple, brings about revelation in a way that we can only receive if we are in the temple doing the work.
“When we want to speak to God we pray. And when we want God to speak to us, we search the scriptures. For his words are spoken through His prophets. He will then teach us as we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.” President Russell M. Nelson
