Nourish The Seed

Spiritual Whirlwinds
Comments
Larene gave a great lesson today about Nourishing Seeds.
Seeds need nourishment. Rain helps the seeds grow and evidence of this is the world around us in the springtime. We see the green grass resurfacing, the trees budding, and the seemingly almost dead world coming alive again.
In the video, “Spiritual Whirlwinds,” we see that the troubles and enticing’s of the world can bring us away from the fruit that will bring us happiness, peace, and joy. Like the tree which grows strong through time and endurance—understanding that the elements are not there to break it but to prepare it for the winds that might seem unconquerable one day, we too can become strong enough and courageous enough to fight through the natural man until we are stronger than the elements that would otherwise bring us to the depths of despair, sorrow, and feelings of not being able to find our way back to the safety and pleasant fruit of the tree.
Essential Seeds To Plant And Nourish
Faith in Christ—The fundamental seed is to have faith that Christ will lead us to the tree and help us stay on the path through all worldly distractions.
Gathering Israel—The more we engage, the more the seed will develop. We are all unique in our talents that God wants us to use to bring His children back to His presence. We are all miracles in the making.
Ministering—The more we do it, the more we grow to love it.
Temple Attendance—If we keep His commandments, we will have His spirit to be with us, then we can accomplish all things He requires.
Temple = Covenants = Promises Coming To Pass
Five Temple Covenant Laws We Must Follow
Obedience, Gospel, Sacrifice, Chasity, Consecration
Seeds must break through the soil to grow. In this life, we sometimes must break through life’s challenges to grow. The breaking part of the growing is not always pleasant or easy, but if we can withstand the obstacles in our way and learn how to push through them successfully, the fruit of love, knowledge, patience, and understanding will be sweet to our taste.
If we can grow our talents and use them as God intends for us to use them, we will be an instrument in His hands in strengthening our faith in Christ, in gathering Israel, in ministering, and in keeping and honoring our temple covenants.
When we are faced with the angel on one shoulder and the adversary on the other shoulder, we should always listen to the angel voice encouraging us and saying, “You can do this, God has planted this seed within you, and you are strong.”
What seeds has Heavenly Father planted in your heart?
On this Mother’s Day also think about the seeds that your mother has planted in your heart. How did she nourish you? Write down all the qualities and attributes that she has that you would like to emulate.
Charity Lovshin
If we care for the seeds we plant and nourish them, they will grow. If we don’t, the seeds will die. We can compare the seed to our testimonies.
Trees grow by having resistance to the elements. Resistance makes them stronger to withstand the bigger storms. This same principle holds true as we build our foundation on Jesus Christ. He will help us resist the forces that come against us.
Seeds must push their way through the ground. Sometimes we feel the hurt of pushing our way through life, but if we do and see the light of Christ, we can be happy that we have the gospel in our lives to nurture us.
God loves us. We are a miracle to Him—He and Jesus have given us talents and abilities to be His hands on earth in building up His kingdom. Through ministering, we will find many fruits of our labor such as friendships, patience, strength, endurance, support, compassion, and love for each other. As we minister, we will feel more love for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

The Helena Montana Temple

Comments
Today’s Relief Society lesson was all about temples. The Helena, Montana Temple is one of a kind in that it is the first manufactured temple. As we think about going to the temple Kathy Stevens taught about three points.
What are the blessing of going to the temple?
Some comments from the women were: falling into perspective, feelings of peace, gained hope, answers to prayers, change of heart, revelation, healing, sealing powers, newfound strength, feelings of calmness, power of God, more fully understanding the Atonement, increased family blessings, increased faith, increased love for relatives, and increased power over the adversary.
What keeps us from going to the temple?
Some comments from the women were: time, money, transportation, distance, child care, business, work, adversary, fear, not feeling worthy, health, confusion, feelings of being overwhelmed, and not having a testimony.
What solutions do we have?
Some comments from the women were: set a date, have conversations, depend on community support, switch babysitting, strengthen your testimony, engage in family history work, understand doctrine on new levels, consider revelation between you and Jesus and Jesus and God.
Charity Lovshin
In 1893 President Wilford Woodruff encouraged the members of the church to find records of their ancestors and to record their genealogy by going back as far possible in order to bring the names to the temple and perform the ordinances of salvation and exaltation.
I am, Linda Lovshin, one of the six consultants in the Family Search Center open Wednesday’s 10-1 and 6-8 that would be happy to help you achieve this goal.

History: Prior to the Montana gold rush of the 1860s, a few members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints traded with Flathead Indians and settled in the area. Others were acquainted with Montana by following the Montana Trail from the Church’s Fort Lemhi settlement on Salmon River. The gold discovery, followed by the overland railway completion in 1869, attracted some Church members to Montana. In 1896, the Montana Mission was organized. In October 1897, Church leaders in Montana received the promise of religious freedom from Governor John E. Rickards. A meeting of 75 people was held in Anaconda, and a gathering of 300 met in Butte later that spring.

Binding Our Families Forever
Welcome to Relief Society. Our theme for May is Press Forward in Christ as We Bind Our Families Together Forever. One of my favorite primary songs is “Families Can Be Together Forever—Through Heavenly Fathers Plan. I Always Want To Be, With My Own Family, And The Lord Has Shown Us How We Can. The Lord, Has Shown Us How We Can.
We have a temple open house this month in Helena and everyone can go and see the new temple, so I encourage you to go. Join us in Relief Society this month to learn more about how our families can be together forever.

I love a good story, how about you?
I was reading some family history stories of my ancestors; in these stories, I felt their joy and their pain. One of my great grandmothers came with her mother across the plains in the Willie Handcart Company. These stories I read strengthened me and taught me that I can also do hard things through Christ. We are in this with those who have journeyed before us and those who will journey after us.
Do you know your story?
Connecting with our ancestors can change our lives in surprising ways. From their trials and accomplishments, we gain faith and strength. From their love and sacrifices, we learn to forgive and move forward. Let the adventure of family history be intentional and spontaneous.
This month, we have the opportunity to attend the open house of the Helena Temple. What a blessing it is to have a temple closer to our homes. Invite your friends. Help them feel the spirit of Elijah as we together turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the children to the fathers. Let all of God's children know of this great blessing. Help others find their stories and receive this beautiful eternal gift.
